The Arizona racetrack of Fairgrounds first opened for racing in 1938. It is not to be confused with its more illustrious, similarly named racetrack, in Louisiana. The Fair itself was first organised in 1884 and has been held annually ever since. The Fairground is situated in Phoenix in Encanto Village.
